February Favorites

Image
Dear blog, these are the items and products I've been loving this month of February. I finally got my hands on all the seasons of Boy Meets World on DVD, my husband and I have been watching all the season's since we got them. He's not as big fan of the show as I am, but it is growing on him. His favorite characters are Eric and Jack, he thinks they should have their own show. I've also, been loving the study of David by Beth Moore. She is great, I love reading this study every morning after I wake up. It helps me stay focused on God, and stay positive about everything I think and do through out the day. It makes me feel relaxed and happy. This month I've been really enjoying doing Zumba Avanzado Rumba. The great thing about this workout video is that it has dancing while slimming down my body and toning it as well. The music is great and fun.  My favorite beauty guru for this month is emilynoel83 , she is a great beauty guru. She always gives great...

ScholarshipPoints

Dear blog, I've been trying to apply for scholarships to help me pay for my last two semesters of college. Im trying this website called ScholarshipPoints, but its a little bizarre; in order to accumulate points you have to buy items from their sponsers. Hello!!!!! The reason I need the scholarships is because I do not have money, I don't have the money to buy products, products that I don't really need. The one thing I do from their website is surveys; I get points for them, but other than that I can't do anything else. Do you all have any suggestions? XOXO Dale!

Victoria Secret: Pink Spring Break

Image
Dear blog, I have recently tried this Pink Spring Break Bronzer. Let's start with the positives; it smells great and it gives you that look like you have just tanned. It wasn't too pricey, only $15. Now to the negative, before I purchased the item, I asked several people in the store if it would stain my clothes, some had never used it, and the one that had used it told me that it would not. So I took her word for it, she does work for the company, but oh how wrong she was. This bronzer stained my clothes and it did not stay on. I did what she told me to do, wait for a little while and then get dressed. I did, and it still stained and it rubbed off as soon as I put clothes on. I would not recommend this product. I was really sad that it did not work because I've been wanting to use something like this to get some color before summer. I don't like tanning beds, so I was looking for other options that are healthier for my body. What do you all think of this product? Wo...

The Catcher and the rye

Dear blog, I just recently finished reading The Catcher and the Rye by J.D Salinger. The reason this book made it into my book list was because several semesters ago I had to take a test and one of the questions made a reference to a bear walking in the park; and this book was one of the options. I honestly had no idea what the answer to that question was because I had never read this book, since then I've been wanting to get my hands on this book and read it. The author does talk about going to the zoo and looking at the bears, but now I'm beginning to think that maybe this wasn't the book; I wish I remembered the other options, oh well. As for this book, it was a great read, I read it in one day, it has 216 pages and was an easy read. Through out the book, I was wondering how the title related to the story being told, well I have learned that sometimes the title is not always clearly defined in the book. The reference the catcher and the rye was actually used only once, ...

My weekend

Image
Dear blog, this past weekend was our first overnight trip with the Singers. I stayed in a wonderful house, I had a view of the golf course from the Village I stayed in; it was an amazing view, I had never seen such a view. My host family and I made cards. It was my first time ever making my own cards. We made ours using fabric that all you had to do was iron it on the paper. Here are some pictures. I also learned so much about culture from this family, they have traveled so much; Japan, the Phillipines, and Alaska. I would just let them talk and I soaked in all this new information from these different cultures. XOXO Dale!

Summary of Rules of Civility

Image
Dear blog, this weekend I decided to take a break off from doing school homework, so I spent all weekend reading a book just for pleasure. The book I chose to read was Rules of Civility by Amor Towles. I saw a friend of mine reading the book and the book cover really caught my attention that I added the book to my reading list, which keeps getting longer. The Rules of Civility are the one's that young George Washigntom wrote, and all 110 of them can be found at the end of the book. They are fun to read, everytime I remember one I try to act the way the rules say. I really recomend this book, I could not put it down. The book is set during the late 1930's. It's about a young lady named and Kate and her roommate, Eve. They both lived in a boarding house and they did not have a whole lot of money. While spending the last day of 1937 out on the town, the ladies met a young man named Tinker who was a banker and he was at the Jazz bar waiting for his brother Hank. After that nig...

Benefit, Michael Kors, and Betseyville

Image
Dear blog, I've done some shopping, but it has been spread out so I've been waiting for my package from Benefit to come in. From Benefit I ordered some of their skin care line. I ran out of my toner and decided to try theirs since it is specifically for oily skin. I also purchased the spray mist. I have only tried  it a couple of times. I will put up a review after a month of using it, but I will say this, it smells amazing. I look forward to using the products in the morning just because of the smell. They were pricey, for both items I paid $55. It is much cheaper than the Chanel skin care line though. I went by JC Penny's and bought this Betseyville watch for $30, what caught my attention was the flower pattern; it's going to be great for Spring. Also, it has a vintage feel to it and I love that. The last couple of items that I purchased were from Dillards. I really wanted a wallet from Michael Kors, but usually they are really expensive, but when I ...

All Sons and Daughters Concert

Image
Dear blog, on Monday February 11, 2013, my husband and I attended a concert here at the school. When I saw the signs around campus, I really wanted to go, but the day before I felt like I needed to stay at home and work on a paper that is due soon. I ended up going and I'm so glad I did. I had an amazing time of worship with the band and my fellow classmates. It felt so good to take an hour of my day and just listen to the word of God and worship Him in song. The name of the band is All Sons and Daughters, they are from a little town in Tennesse. They are very talented and have a gift for ministry. If you are interested in listening to their music, they can be found on  YouTube . I would love to hear them perform again I had such a wonderful time with them. XOXO Dale!

Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson

Dear blog, right before school started I finished reading the novel Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson. It was a very good and interesting book, but in certain parts of the book I felt like the author was just rambling and repeating herself. Anyway, this book is about two sisters named Ruth and Lucille. At first they lived with their mother, but she did not pay much attention to them. She was always quiet, but these girls loved their mom. One day her mom decided that they were going to visit grandma. Their neighbor let them borrow her car. Once they arrived at grandma's house, the mom left the girls in the porch while she went away. The mom left to commit suicide, leaving her two daughters without parents. The grandmother took custody of them and took care of them until she died. Then their great aunts take custody of them, but they are too old to be caring for two young, energetic girls. So they decided to contact Sylvie; she is the two girls' aunt. Sylvie is younger, but she...
