I had the opportunity to read The Bodyguard by Katherine Center. It's set for releasee July 19, 2022. I couldn't control my emotions as I read. There was so much laughing, but I also held my breath as the story captivated me. This was such a fun read that I could not put the book down. I read the entire thing in a day; well, I had to stay up past my bed time to finish it, but please don't tell my husband.
I was really invested in Hannah Brooks' life. She doesn't look like the type of person that could kill someone with a wine bottle opener, but looks can be deceiving. Her job is to provide protection to those who need it. The story starts with terrible events in Hannah's life from her mother's death to her boyfriend ending their relationship! Understandably, she wanted to get away from the world, but that is not the plan her boss Glenn has for her. He puts her in charge of the protection detail for the famous and irresistible actor, Jack Stapleton. The plot thickens as he returns home to Texas. That may sound generic but he doesn't want his family to know that he has a stalker which requires him to have a bodyguard. Instead he asks Hannah to become pretend to be his girlfriend while with this family. Jack's mother asks Hannah to stay with them at the ranch until Thanksgiving, which meant they would have to keep up their lie 24/7 for 3 weeks straight. What could possibly go wrong!!?? As I said, I experienced several emotions while reading this book from laughter to anxiety from the suspense. I highly recommend this book, it will definitely be a great summer read while laying out in the sun. What books have captured your attention recently?
